Hi!
I’m Kristen; The Midwest Bohemian. My wanderer heart has brought me and my little business from my hometown in Ohio, USA all the way to Alberta, Canada. To say I took the scenic route to this moment is a vast understatement, but at last here we are. Right now. And I wouldn't trade one moment of my story. Full disclosure - this "about" section of my website has been my arch nemesis! I've gone over and over what I'm supposed to say, and I've come to the conclusion that therein lies the secret to this section of my page, and to everything. There aren't any rules actually, no supposed to's - just the journey.
I’ve been photographing magic moments and gorgeous souls since 2009. If we’re being honest, it took me 7 years chasing the light as a photographer to truly figure out my identity as an artist. At the end of 2016 I had a business name that no longer suited me or my vision. I wanted so much more from my editing style. Things had to change in a big way. I stripped away all the supposed to's and rules and decided to just be me instead. The universe answered in some pretty amazing ways! 2017 was a year of growth and change for my company. The schedule filled up. Referrals came. My work was featured by Tribe Archipelago and published in a cookbook. Sparks flew for me, and things felt round and whole. Finally.
My approach to photography is organic, candid and romantic. I love modern moody edits. Give me all the highlight and shadow! Authentic in-between moments are art. I swoon when an image conveys all the emotion of an instant. I’m overly generous with high fives. Sometimes I cry during newborn sessions, and if I don't do something awkward in front of a new client it's nothing short of a miracle.
I'm a morning coffee junkie. It's the first thing I look for when I open my eyes. My obsession with music is real, and I'm typically always singing. I adore my family, a good sunrise, old things made new, belly laughs, resale shops, local dives, deep conversations and natural connections.
I guess this all wraps up with a gigantic thank you to my beautiful clients, old and brand new. Your support over the years has given me the ability to accomplish something that I never dreamed possible. I see you. You are amazing parents, curious big brothers, loving partners, hopeful hearts and silly sisters. I carry the responsibility of documenting your lives with so much gravity. When you find yourselves here on my portfolio pages, know that I am endlessly grateful for each and every one of you. I cannot wait for our next adventure.
Big love & endless gratitude,
Kristen
